The Schwarzenegger Sex Scandal isn?t the only political story heating up the blogosphere this week. Remember Jimmy McMillan? Well, he?s running for president. That?s right ? the former candidate for the New York State governorship is throwing his sideburns into the ring, announcing his candidacy for the GOP presidential nomination.
Look out, Newt Gingrich.
McMillan, a third party candidate famed for his distinctive sideburns and black ski gloves, gained national attention after his rousing speech at the New York Gubernatorial Debate last October. His passionate bellowing of the catchy phrase ?The rent is too damn high!? turned him into a YouTube sensation. He was later recruited and paid $10,000 to shoot a commercial for the auction site BidHere. The brassy New Yorker released an album that debuted on iTunes shortly after he was spoofed to hilarious perfection by Saturday Night Live?s Kenan Thomas.
McMillan,who believes Americans have been ?punked? by the Democratic Party, tells FOX News he hopes his Election 2012 campaign will be taken a bit more seriously than his last venture in politics.
?Rent is too damn high is my slogan. Gasoline is too damn high is my slogan and the deficit is too damn high. And last but not least, everything is too damn high and that is my entire slogan to help get this country on the right track,? McMillan says. ?The world is in turmoil. What is happening in the Arab world is happening here, corrupt government, and I?m here to change that and I?m not playin?. I hope everybody takes me serious. This is not a joke. This is not Saturday Night Live.?
